Paramedicine Across Canada Expo is excited to introduce a Paramedic Simulation Competition to the conference program in 2019!
September 19, 2019 (Round Robin)
September 20, 2019 (Finals)
The goal of the PACE 2019 Paramedic Simulation Competition is to display the skill, teamwork and compassion of paramedics from across Canada and around the world. All teams competing will be encouraged to practice their craft in two challenging cases while the audience will be inspired and invigorated in the finals as the top three teams compete in a high fidelity simulation.
The competition will be hosted with diverse high fidelity scenarios. The teams will be challenged to assess and treat a patient or patients in potentially dynamic scenarios, and measured on their ability to effectively communicate and integrate their practice while dealing with stressors.
Teams will be compromised of two paramedics able to function as a team or individually in the prehospital setting. An alternate team member can be registered in the event that one of the primary competitors is unable to participate, however the competition will take place with two paramedics only.
Targeted scope of practice is the Advanced Care Paramedic which would be equivalent to EMT-P in the United States. Teams must be compromised of at least 1 member holding a valid ACP or equivalent license. The second member may also hold an ACP or equivalent license however any lower scope of practice will also be accepted. Please visit http://paramedic.ca/site/nocp to familiarize yourself with the expected scope of practice. Entrance will be given to teams limited to the Primary Care Paramedic scope of practice only if the 10 team limit is not reached by ACP/EMT-P equivalent teams.
Critical care paramedics, physicians, physician’s assistants or RNs are not eligible for this competition.
The competition will be hosted with diverse high fidelity scenarios. The teams will be challenged to assess and treat a patient or patients in potentially dynamic scenarios. This will not be a written test but rather how teams can effectively communicate and integrate their practice while dealing with stressors.
Paramedics are encouraged to wear their uniforms during the competition and awards ceremony to represent their organization.
Competing teams consent to having their photos taken and posted on social media platforms related to the PACE Conference to advertise or promote future conferences.
